What AI visibility is — and why your business should measure it

Ten years of SEO taught businesses one reflex: rank on Google, get found. That reflex is now incomplete. A growing share of buying decisions starts with a question typed into ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity or Gemini — and the answer is not ten blue links. It is a short, confident paragraph that names two or three companies.

If yours is not one of them, you are invisible at the exact moment a customer was ready to choose.

What "AI visibility" actually means

AI visibility is the answer to a simple question: when a real customer asks an AI assistant for what you sell, do you appear in the answer — and how?

That breaks down into things you can observe:

  • Are you mentioned at all, or absent?
  • Are you recommended, merely listed, or described with caveats?
  • Who appears instead of you — and how often?
  • Which sources does the AI cite when it answers?

Here is the kind of exchange that decides it, taken from a live model with web search enabled:

what's the best accounting firm in Cluj for a small business?

For a small business in Cluj, the most recommended options are Competitor A and Competitor B. Both offer full digitalisation and competitive pricing.

Two names. Neither is yours. No error message, no page-two consolation — just a customer who will never know you existed.

Why this is measurable, not vibes

A single answer proves nothing: models vary their answers between runs, between providers, and over time. Measurement means treating AI answers like data:

1. Ask a fixed panel of real customer questions, in the language of your market. 2. Ask them across several providers, several times, with web search on. 3. Extract every brand mention, its sentiment and its position. 4. Repeat on a schedule and track the trend.

What we measure

That is what this product does. Each scan runs your question panel through the major AI assistants and turns the transcripts into numbers:

  • Visibility score — how often and how prominently you appear.
  • Share of voice — your mentions versus each competitor's, on the same questions.
  • Cited sources — the pages AI models lean on, and whether you are on them.
  • Recommendations — concrete actions ranked by expected impact.

The point is not a vanity dashboard. It is knowing, before your next quarter, whether the assistants your customers trust are recommending you — or quietly handing them to someone else.

Run the free scan and see your first answer transcript in about a minute.
